Hi! I’m Sharlene Douthit the Founder and President of Simply Good Home Staging, a Denver based home staging and design company that specializes in home staging that SELLS!

One of my greatest passions in life is home staging and decorating! Even as a teenager it was clear that I was hooked. While most of my friends were subscribing to Seventeen magazine I couldn’t wait to get my Elle Décor in the mail. During high school my passions grew and I enrolled in some college level Interior Design classes at the local Community College. Here my love of design flourished, and I found myself spending hours reading class materials and drawing up custom house plans. One of my fondest memories is of taking a field trip with my class to St. Louis to visit model homes. I dreamed of someday recreating the warmth and luxury I felt in those gorgeous homes.

After studying Interior Design at Drexel University in Philadelphia, my career path led me away from design and into business. I spent the next 20+ years working in corporate America doing sales and marketing in the Consumer Packaged Goods industry.

I was able to feed my love of design during this time through numerous corporate relocations. To date I have owned 13 private residences, and 6 investment homes. I had more than my fair share of personal decorating experience, so much that I’ve even been accused of relocating just so I could redecorate another house.

My twenty plus years of working in the corporate world helped me become more business savvy and gain a greater understanding of the importance of successfully marketing myself and my skills. Because of this I feel confident knowing I have the business, sales, and marketing background that many in the design industry lack.

After leaving the corporate realm I found my way back to my true passion, Interior Design. My first step towards creating Simply Good Staging was becoming a certified member of the Association of Property Scene Designers (APSD), an international organization for the new generation of home stagers. During my certification I was personally trained by Karen Schaefer, APSD Founder, self-made millionaire, and entrepreneur. As a successful home stager I pride myself on my ability to make a home look like a million bucks, while working within a client’s budget. A bargain hunter by nature, my clients not only reap the benefits of my keen eye for style but also my determination to never pay full price.

When I was young I dreamed of creating beautiful homes with stunning décor and attractive furnishings. Today, I have been able to make that dream a reality. I am proud to be a well established entrepreneur in the Denver area. In addition to being the founder of Simply Good Staging I am also the Founder of: Financially Fit Females, an education based  financial support group for women; Simply Good Photography, a wedding, portrait, and special event photography business; and Simply Good Investments, a successful real estate investment company. Outside of work I enjoy traveling, cooking, hosting parties, and soaking up the Colorado sunshine by running, skiing, and hiking with my beloved dogs Chauncey, Foster, and Sammie.
